Holding dual citizenship, with an American mother and a Kiwi step-father, my life to date has been full of constant motion. The journey started in Georgia, USA. 'Free range' would sum up my childhood, with many hours spent hiking in 'the woods' with my dog, building shanty tree forts, and riding my bike 'til the fireflies lit up the night sky. In many respects it was an idyllic childhood. When I was 11, my mother and I moved from (semi) rural America to Brisbane, Australia. There I would spend the next decade embracing the laid back Australian lifestyle and culture. 'Flip flops' became 'thongs', the metric system was a thing, and words like breakfast and afternoon were quickly shortened to 'brekkie' and 'arvo'. Over the years I learned to appreciate Vegemite on toast, a well made flat white, the beautiful pristine beaches, and drive on the left hand side of the road, amongst many other wonderfully unique Australian offerings. With extended family 'down-under', I can well and truly say I'm an Aussie now too! Though despite frequent return trips to the U.S. to visit American relatives, and time spent interning in Los Angeles, I yearned for an extended experience stateside. Following a slightly extended gap year living and working in New Zealand’s rugged and remote Fiordland, three months backpacking around Japan, and a stint with NGO's in South East Asia, I journeyed back across the Pacific to Salt Lake City to broaden my academics at the University of Utah. In the process I connected with a motley community of "adventurous" folk, forming lifelong bonds through shared outdoor experiences. This outlet provided a chance to expand on my love for the outdoors, and develop a repertoire of technical and teamwork skills in skiing, guiding, rafting, kayaking, rock climbing, horseback riding, and mountain biking, amongst other activities. These skills have allowed me to get as close as possible to the action, perform comfortably in remote locations and adverse weather, and gain an intimate understanding of the outdoor culture and industry. I'm currently working between North America and Asia Pacific on a freelance and contract basis.
